The Kitchen
Sacramento, California
The Kitchen is Sacramento’s preeminent destination for fine dining and the city’s only Michelin starred restaurant. The owners wanted to study moving the restaurant to a new location and expanding the number of seats from 50 to 80. The challenge was to create a luxurious environment, for all the senses, that still maintained the intimacy of the existing space. Guests would first enter a forecourt of glazed brick tiles through a bronze gate. The Dining Room balances a sense of warmth: wide plank wood flooring, dark wood cabinetry and soapstone counters, with a sense of glamour: bronze clad hoods and leather upholstered seating. The focus of the room being a glass mosaic tiled feature wall that symbolized the farm to table approach the owners have been championing for years.
